Soil Science Australia invites you to join us at the National Soil Science Conference which will be held at the MCG in November 2014.
Approximately 400 delegates from throughout Australasia are expected to attend, including researchers, analysts, educationists, advisors, extension agents, land managers and policy makers from national, state and local government, universities and the private sector. The conference program will cover the breadth of soils, landforms and climate across the region, and the corresponding breadth of land use; from agriculture to forestry, conservation, recreation and urban use. There really is something in this conference for everyone concerned with understanding and managing soils.
The theme of the 2014 conference is Securing Australia's soils - for profitable industries and healthy landscapes. This theme has been chosen as it reflects the vision of the National Soil Research, Development and Extension Strategy that is being released in 2014. The strategy has been developed through extensive consultation with the soil science community and aims to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of investment in soil RD&E and facilitate collaboration across industries and organisations. Improved soil RD&E assists farmers, land managers, policy makers, planners and other stakeholders better understand, manage, protect and benefit from the soil resource.
We also look ahead to 2015, the International Year of the Soil. Our society’s conference will serve as a launching pad into what will be a year of increased focus and promotion on the importance of securing Australia’s soils for profitable industries and healthy landscapes.
